Trump ally slams House GOP plan to impeach Rosenstein -- and says it makes impeaching the president easier

Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak, a staunch backer of President Donald Trump, slammed House Republicans who this week filed articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Reacting to impeachment articles filed by Reps. Mark Meadows (R-NC) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), Pollak questioned not only whether such a resolution would be successful, but whether it was even wise to consider in the first place.

"Where are the 'high crimes and misdemeanors' in the Rosenstein indictment?" he asked. "How does it not set a low bar for the political impeachment of Trump?"

Pollak isn't the only conservative to question the wisdom of the impeachment resolution against Rosenstein, as Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano called the effort "embarrassing" during a "Fox & Friends" appearance on Thursday.

"The constitution says that there’s a very very narrow basis for impeachment and that’s intentional," he said. "If it were a broad basis people would be getting kicked out of office left and right. Treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. When Bill Clinton was impeached, it was obstructing justice by lying under oath so it has to be something of that magnitude."
