Donald Trump's administration backtracked.

According to the Washington Post, Tufts appears to have resigned amid the controversy.

HUD Secretary Ben Carson announced last week ago that Tufts would move to investigate Interior, but officials at Interior described the news as "100 percent false."

It is still unclear who will take over the responsibility of investigating Zinke's scandals and other concerns in the department.
