A new poll gauging how the country feels about the job President Donald Trump has been doing since taking office is being called "stunning" by the head of the conservative-leaning group Rasmussen Reports.
That's because, despite the disruption of Trump's tariffs, a wildly fluctuating stock market, talk of impending recession, and the erosion of free speech rights, "the number of people who think the country is moving in the right direction is increasing," Newsweek reported.
Rasmussen's numbers showed that "Trump's approval rating is at +7" and "50 percent of Americans think the nation is on the right track."
According to Newsweek, Rasmussen's head of polling Mark Mitchell told MAGA podcaster Benny Johnson, "I never thought we would see it...Donald Trump's doing pretty well from a presidential approval perspective...but the right direction number's been the sleeper hit, it's been setting records left and right."

He continued, "In the first time in our polling history, a majority of the electorate says the country's headed in the right direction. Absolutely stunning. Net +5. Never seen anything like that."
The latest Rasmussen numbers out Thursday "show that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-seven percent (47%) disapprove. The latest figures include 36% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 37% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -1."
