Trump attends 'party unity' meeting with GOP senators -- and hits them with more threats and insults

Donald Trump, as we've seen in the past, has a very unique way of uniting the Republican Party behind him.

The Washington Post reports that Trump attended a meeting with Republican Senators on Thursday that was supposed to unify the party around his candidacy -- but he spent a lot of it dishing out insults at senators who have failed to endorse him.

In particular, Trump got into a feisty exchange with Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who asked Trump to stop attacking Latinos. The Post's sources say Trump responded threatening to attack Flake publicly and predicting that the senator "would lose his reelection, at which point Flake informed Trump that he was not on the ballot this year."

Trump also reportedly characterized Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) as a "loser" because he refused to endorse Trump. Despite Kirk's decision to run away from Trump, the presumptive nominee boldly proclaimed that he would win Kirk's home state of Illinois.

And finally, Trump also apparently singled out Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), who has been the loudest Trump critic among Republican senators. Although Sasse wouldn't comment on what Trump said during the meeting, his spokesman said the Sasse still believes that the choice of Trump and Hillary Clinton is a "dumpster fire" for the American public.
