Trump backer John Bolton: Obama unqualified because 'snark in a president not an admirable trait'

Former United Nations ambassador and Donald Trump supporter John Bolton lashed out at President Barack Obama on Tuesday, saying that he had never been qualified to be commander-in-chief because he was too snarky toward his opponents.

During a speech at the White House on Tuesday, Obama slammed Republicans who had criticized him for refusing to use the phrase "radical Islam."

"There’s no magic to the phrase ‘radical Islam,’" the president said. "It’s a political talking point, not a strategy."

Bolton described the speech as a "failure of presidential leadership."

"We get a lecture from one of the most narcissistic individuals ever to hold that job about what's wrong with the rest of us who don't have the tolerance that he does," Bolton complained. "Instead of talking about the enemies of the United States and what he's going to do, he talks about his political enemies. I just think that's unpresidential, I think it shows the president to be a small man."

As for Obama's point that using the phrase "radical Islam" would not defeats ISIS, Bolton argued that "snark in a president is not an admirable trait."

"And criticizing your political opponents in a speech to the nation at a time when they want to know what we're doing to protect ourselves from other attacks like this is beneath the dignity of the office," he declared. "He's not qualified, he's never been qualified."

"I would say from Hillary Clinton's point of view, if you embrace this presidency for the duration of this campaign, that is the ticket to lose right there," the former ambassador added.

Bolton, however, has embraced Trump's campaign, saying that it would be "an honor to be considered for any position to serve the country" if the Republican candidate wins.
