Trump-backing farmer admits president's tariffs cost him 'a lot of money' -- but he'd still vote for him

A Trump-backing farmer in Pennsylvania admits that he's feeling the pinch from the president's trade policies.

In an interview with CNBC, soybean farmer Bill Beam says that the price of soy futures has plummeted by 15 percent ever since China announced retaliatory tariffs against U.S. soy farmers earlier this year -- and it's really cutting into his ability to make a living.

"It's a lot of money," Beam tells the network. "If I lose $100 an acre, and you take the acres that I farm, it's a lot of money. And I don't think there's anybody that really can say they're making a lot of money at these prices, if any."

Beam, who says he supported President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, also says he's taken a hit from the steel tariffs the president has lobbed at not only China, but also American allies. In particular, he says that the price of equipment purchases has increased, further squeezing his bottom line.

Despite all the trouble the president's policies have caused him, however, he still doesn't regret his vote.

"If the election was today, and Hillary was on the ticket and Trump was on the ticket, I'd absolutely vote the same way," he tells CNBC. "Without a doubt."
