Trump blames the NRA's implosion on NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo's 'illegal' investigation

President Donald Trump on Monday blamed the ongoing implosion of the National Rifle Association on the investigation into the organization being conducted by the state of New York.

"The NRA is under siege by Cuomo and the New York State A.G., who are illegally using the State’s legal apparatus to take down and destroy this very important organization, & others," Trump wrote on Twitter. "It must get its act together quickly, stop the internal fighting, & get back to GREATNESS - FAST!"

New York Attorney General Letitia James has launched an investigation into the NRA's finances amid accusations that its leaders have been profiting from their organization, which is purportedly a nonprofit.

NRA president Oliver North over the weekend announced that he would not seek a second term, and he issued a warning about how the NRA spends its money that could result in it losing its nonprofit status.
