President Donald Trump earned his first major court win during his second term when a federal judge said his administration could move forward with his administration's plan to offer buyouts to federal employees — for now.
U.S. District Judge George A. O’Toole temporarily blocked the Office of Personnel Management from moving ahead with the "buyout" plan, in which workers were offered 8 months of pay if they agreed to leave the government.
The buyouts were paused since Thursday as unions representing more than 800,000 federal workers sued to stop the program. They called it "arbitrary, unlawful, short-fused ultimatum."

But on Wednesday, O’Toole lifted his pause, saying the lawsuit lacked standing and that his court didn't have jurisdiction, The Washington Post reported.
CNN legal analyst Elie Honig noted the judge made his ruling based on "technical" reasons.
A White House official told CNN's Jeff Zeleny they were "pleased" with the ruling.
