'Sharks are circling:' Reporter spills insider details on 'Trump campaign leadership'
August 15, 2024
As former President Donald Trump's campaign continues to struggle amid Vice President Kamala Harris's surge in the polls, many political observers have been wondering if campaign bosses Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles are on borrowed time.
During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Thursday, Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell confirmed that LaCivita and Wiles appear to be on thin ice.
"The sharks are circling," he said of the campaign leadership team. "It has been a bad enough month, the previous month for the Trump campaign that there are enemies, real and perceived, that are starting to look at Trump campaign leadership team and really start to tell Trump, you know, you've got to get rid of these guys, you've got to reset it."

Lowell pointed to a meeting that Trump had with former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway earlier this month that left officials with the impression that "Kellyanne's coming for their jobs, or at least they had such a bad month that Kellyanne felt emboldened enough to make a play."
Lowell then pointed to Trump's history of firing campaign chiefs during the summer of election years, as he had done to Paul Manafort in 2016 and Brad Parscale in 2020.
"This has historically been the time when Trump makes changes and there has been some concern that this could be in the offing," he said.
