Ex-GOP lawmaker says Trump is doing 'enormous damage to himself' with 'asinine statements'

Donald Trump is getting "boring" and "unhinged" when he should be focusing on Vice President Kamala Harris' policies, according to former Republican lawmaker Charlie Dent.

Dent, a former GOP congressman from the swing state of Pennsylvania, appeared on MSNBC on Sunday to discuss the 2024 presidential election.

The host asked Dent if Trump's recent personal attacks on Harris, including saying that the ex-president is "better looking" than her, are working.

"These kinds of attacks and insults are really not helping him," Dent said. "When he went out there and questioned her race, is she Indian or is she Black, and did she just turn Black, I think he is doing enormous damage to himself because people are saying, see, he is bizarre."

Dent continued, saying, "He is making asinine statements, really, when he should be talking about issues where she may be vulnerable on the border or on fracking or on inflation."

"Instead, he's personalizing this in a way that many people question his judgment and his fitness the more he carries on like he's unhinged," Dent added. "Come on, this is really not helping him with anybody."
