Trump claims he misspoke at presser with Putin: 'I accept' that Russia 'meddled' but it didn't affect the votes

President Donald Trump on Tuesday backtracked and said that he accepted the U.S. intelligence community's assessment that Russia meddled in the election.

At a White House pool spray before meeting with Republican members of Congress, the president suggested that he misspoke during his Monday press conference with Putin, in which he signed onto the Russian leader's "strong" claim that there was no election interference.

Trump reversed himself on Tuesday and said that he "accepts our intelligence community conclusion that meddling took place," according to the pool report. "Could be other people also. A lot of people out there."

The president went on to insist that no votes were affected due to Russia's interference.
