'Bored the jury to tears': Ex-Trump lawyer gives brutal opinion on closing arguments

One of Donald Trump's former lawyers panned the closing arguments of the ex-president's defense attorney Todd Blanche Tuesday.
Tim Parlatore, who represented Trump in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, told CNN that lead counsel in the hush money case had lost the jury during a closing argument that lasted for nearly three hours.
"It went way too long," Parlatore said. "It included way too much extraneous information and as much as he has probably bored the jury to tears. [Manhattan prosecutor Joshua] Steinglass has the opportunity in four-and-a-half hours to do worse."
Blanche had told the court his closing argument would likely take about two and a half hours but went over that by 21 minutes. Steinglass said his closing argument for the district attorney's office would likely take more than four hours, which reportedly drew gasps in the courtroom overflow room.
"Shorten it up," Parlatore recommended. "If I were sitting there and I could grab Steinglass in the hallway and say what to do, shorten it significantly. Just take the points, take that top 10 list at the end, nail that right off the top and then shorten it up. "This is way too long."

Trump has been charged with falsifying business records to cover up reimbursements to his attorney Michael Cohen, who paid $130,000 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to keep her from going public with claims about their extramarital affair.
Steinglass is expected to explain to the jury how payments amount to an illegal in-kind campaign contribution because the scheme was intended to prevent voters from hearing about the affair, and he will likely argue that evidence shows Trump approved of the payments.
