Trump should be concerned that GOP hasn't defended him 'on the substance' at Cohen hearing: Christie

Chris Christie, a Trump surrogate and the former governor of New Jersey, warned why the White House should be concerned about the House GOP response to Michael Cohen's congressional testimony.

"There hasn't been one Republican yet who's tried to defend the president on the substance," Christie told ABC News during an intermission in the hearings. "I think that's something that should be concerning to the White House."

Indeed, the majority of the Republican congresspeople who interviewed Cohen tried to attack him on a partisan basis and undermine his credibility.

On two occasions Wednesday, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) appeared to try to link Cohen to the so-called "Deep State," while Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) brought a black Housing and Urban Development aide that also worked on the Trump campaign in an attempt to disprove the claim that Donald Trump is a racist.
