Legal experts call MAGA lawyer's bluff after lawsuit threat for labeling Trump a 'felon'

Attorney Mike Davis, one of Donald Trump's rumored attorney general candidates, is threatening lawsuits for anyone who calls the ex-president a convicted felon.

"Dear Media and Other Democrat Operatives: Fair warning: Calling Trump a 'convicted felon' is defamatory. You may get sued," Davis wrote on X.

Trump was convicted of 34 felonies involving a scheme to influence the 2016 election and hide an alleged affair with an adult film actress and director.

Legal analysts and experts didn't take Davis's argument seriously -- and many of them flat-out dared him to sue them.

"Trump is a convicted felon. Sue me," former federal prosecutor Preet Bharara posted on X.

Author Robert Swartwood posted: "The 'facts don’t care about your feelings' crowd are super mad about … facts."

Attorney Ven Yelin suggested that the X account "Bad Legal Takes" share the post.

Professor Suzette Seepersad posted a screen capture of the Associated Press report after the jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts.

Scores of other accounts lined up to retweet the post from Davis declaring "Donald Trump is a convicted felon" and inviting Davis to "bring it."

Davis founded a group to advocate for conservative judicial nominees. He previously threatened "severe" consequences for anyone involved in the criminal charges against Trump, including the U.S. Justice Department.
