A frustrated Democratic pollster slammed MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell on Election Day when she tried to argue Vice President Kamala Harris was obligated to play nice with Republicans.
Democratic strategist Cornell Belcher accused Mitchell of subjecting Harris to an unfair double standard during a heated exchange on the cable news site Tuesday.
"Why are we putting the onus on her differently than we put on anyone else?" Belcher asked. "Republicans have had Democrat Senates, and I've never heard us sit around and have a conversation, how the Republican has to reach out and put Democrats in."
Belcher raised his voice and spoke over Mitchell as she argued Harris, should she defeat former President Donald Trump, would be forced to select a more conservative Cabinet.
"Especially if she has a Republican Senate," Mitchell said, "which is more likely than not, even to get confirmation, she's going to have to have a very different Cabinet than she might prefer."

Harris has already signaled Republicans are welcome in her administration and welcomed people like Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and the so-called "Never Trump" Republicans on the campaign trail.
Mitchell refused to be spoken over as she argued former President Barack Obama was able to move quickly at the beginning of his term because he had a Democratic Senate.
"That's my point," Belcher snapped back. "It seems like a double standard to me where she's gotta do things dramatically different."
