The Trump administration is following through on the president's campaign vow to oust diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
A memo distributed Friday night to the heads of federal agencies ordered them to "take action to terminate" workers in DEI roles, Axios reported.
"[E]ach agency, department, or commission head shall take action to terminate, to the maximum extent allowed by law, all DEI, DEIA, and 'environmental justice' offices and positions within sixty days," the memo said, according to the report.
Friday's memo also updated an earlier memo that told agencies to begin issuing layoff notices immediately, as opposed to an earlier deadline that gave them until the end of the month.

The American Federation of Government Employees blasted the Trump administration in a statement earlier this week.
"Ultimately, these attacks on DEIA are just a smokescreen for firing civil servants, undermining the apolitical civil service, and turning the federal government into an army of yes-men loyal only to the president, not the Constitution," the union said in a statement.
The memo also comes after the Trump administration announced an effort to have federal workers report their coworkers who refused to sweep out diversity, equity and inclusionpolicies.
Federal employees were put on notice Wednesday that “adverse consequences” would follow for those who refuse to report colleagues in DEI roles. The threat was sent out to tens of thousands of government workers across federal agencies, warning that the White House would not allow any efforts to “disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language."
