Trump vows to return wrongly deported migrant — if Supreme Court makes him

President Donald Trump told reporters Friday evening he would return a migrant that his administration deported, should the conservative-leaning Supreme Court order him to do so.

The response came after the high court ordered his administration to "facilitate" the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was wrongly deported to El Salvador and has been detained in a notoriously brutal maximum security prison.

Trump told reporters, “If the Supreme Court said bring somebody back I would do that. I respect the Supreme Court.”

“I have great respect for the Supreme Court,” he said, according to Seung Min Kim, White House reporter for The Associated Press.

Trump's remarks come after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, “The Supreme Court made their ruling last night very clear that it’s the administration’s responsibility to facilitate the return, not to effectuate the return."

Trump's statement also came after his Justice Department was told to deliver daily updates about Abrego Garcia, whom they admitted they wrongfully deported.
