A judge ordered an "intense" two-week investigation into the Trump administration's refusal to try to return a Maryland father who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador.
The Justice Department clashed with U.S. District Court Judge Paula Xinis in a Tuesday hearing over what the U.S. government acknowledged was an accidental deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
According to Politico's Kyle Cheney, Xinis said that every day Ábrego García is in the Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT, is "a day of further irreparable harm."

"If not this court, then who, to engage in process. It’s process that is in the roots of our constitution, so we have to give process to both sides...There will be no tolerance for gamesmanship or grandstanding," the judge said.
Xinis then lit up the administration for failing to try to bring Abrego Garcia back.
“To date, what the record shows is that nothing has been done. Nothing,” Xinis said at the court hearing.
Xinis’ inquiry order could lead to top Trump administration officials testifying under oath about their response to court orders, according to the report.
“We’re going to move. There will be no tolerance for gamesmanship or grandstanding,” the judge said. “There are no business hours while we do this. … Cancel vacations, cancel other appointments. I’m usually pretty good about things like that in my court, but not this time. So, I expect all hands on deck.”
