Trump EPA appointee Trey Glenn indicted on Alabama ethics charges

An administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency was indicted this week on ethics charges in Alabama.

AL.com reported that Trey Glenn, administrator for Region 4 of the EPA, was charged with "soliciting a thing of value from a principal, lobbyist or subordinate, and receiving money in addition [to] that received in one’s official capacity."

The charges date back to Glenn's work with a Birmingham client to stop EPA cleanup efforts in neighborhoods in north Birmingham and Tarrant.

The Alabama Ethics Commission also indicted former Alabama Environmental Management Commissioner Scott Phillips on the same charges.

"Under Alabama ethics law, it is illegal for a lobbyist or a lobbyist’s client, called a principal, to give a public official a thing of value, including a job," AL.com noted.

Trump appointed Glenn to be Region 4 administrator in 2017. In 2008, Glenn had another a brush with the Alabama Ethics Commission after a complaint. But a grand jury decided not to indict him on the 2008 charges.
