President Donald Trump's months of opposition to releasing the full Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case files have collapsed, MS NOW anchor and former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said on Monday, as Trump tries to now insist he was in favor of the release all along — and it is actually bad news for Democrats.
"The dam is starting to break in the U.S. Senate ahead of tomorrow's House vote to release the Epstein files," said Steele. "New tonight, Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a staunch Trump ally, says he'll vote to release the files, telling NBC News that Democrats have, quote, 'been yelling about it. Let's just shut them up.' Well, that announcement comes on the heels of Trump's supporting the House vote tomorrow to release the files. Here's what Trump said today, including a new promise to sign the bill into law if it passes the Senate."
"Sure, I would let, let the Senate look at it, let anybody look at it," said Trump in the clip. "But don't talk about it too much, because honestly, I don't want to take it away from us. It's really a Democrat problem. I believe that many of the people that we, some of the people that we mentioned, are being looked at very seriously for their relationship to Jeffrey Epstein, but they were with them all the time. I wasn't, I wasn't at all."
Steele then turned to former Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester.
"Where's the photo of Donald Trump with Jeffrey Epstein? Can we put it up on the screen?" said Steele. "We'll find the footage in the pictures while you just respond to the president's ridiculous lie that he was not friends with Jeffrey Epstein. It's everybody but him."
"Yeah, well, you know. It's, it's those those lying facts, you know, it's, it's tough to deal with, but, but how things changed in 48 hours," said Tester. "I mean, the fact that the president is now saying to the House, go ahead and release, go ahead and vote for it. And the fact that the Senate's getting out ahead on this so they don't have to fall on the sword."
"I think it's good because, by the way, I don't care who you are, if you're a pedophile, you should face the charges that are in front of you," Tester added. "And I think we're going to see when these Epstein files come out. A lot of questions answered."
