Political expert shows how Trump's campaign could be 'finished within the next two weeks'

Donald Trump's presidential campaign could be two weeks from being over, a political strategist argues.

The former president was hit with some bad election news recently when the Colorado Supreme Court took the unprecedented move of striking him from the state's GOP primary ballot because he "engaged in insurrection" with his actions leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.

The conventional wisdom among legal scholars is that the U.S. Supreme Court, which is made up of numerous justices appointed by Trump, will reverse this decision. But what if that doesn't happen?

Democratic political expert Simon Rosenberg has the answer.

"What's remarkable is that there is a non-zero chance the Supreme Court could rule with Colorado and Trump could be finished within the next two weeks," Rosenberg wrote on his social media.

That got commenters wondering about what comes next.

One verified user replied with, "Which means Haley or Christie is the nominee. Can’t imagine many Trump people would go to DeSantis. They’re spiteful enough they may just stay out of it."

Rich Logis, a self-identified former MAGA activist, appeared to agree with the argument by Rosenberg.

"If a SCOTUS majority rules against Trump, how could he appear on ANY state's 2024 ballot? Yes, states have broad authority to run their elections," Logis wrote Thursday. "But the 14th Amendment question is not an elections question; it's a qualification one. And federal law is supreme to any state's."

The story was also picked up by Newsweek, which reported that, "If the Supreme Court does uphold the Colorado ruling then it could set a precedent for Trump regarding legal actions in other states."

"There are currently suits in over half of U.S. states, where cases hinge on the interpretation of Section Three of the 14th Amendment," the outlet wrote.
