Trump wants to call 127 witnesses in New York fraud trial: report

Donald Trump's extensive list of potential witnesses in his New York civil fraud trial is more than 100 people long, MSNBC legal correspondent Lisa Rubin revealed Tuesday.

According to Rubin, Trump's lawyers filed a list of 127 potential witnesses they might ask to take the stand in the $250 million civil fraud trial.

"So, I have the list in front of me," Rubin told host Chris Jansing. "It has 127 people on it."

The number appeared to stun Jansing, who exclaimed, "What?"

Rubin then said there was a 128th option on the list: "Anyone on the plaintiffs' witness list who is not otherwise here."

This might explain why Trump's lawyers said Monday their defense could span more than a month.

But before the defense can begin, a key witness for the state must first take the stand Wednesday: Ivanka Trump. And it remains unclear what she'll say, noted legal analyst Joyce Vance.

"We don't know what ... testimony [the State] hopes to elicit from Ivanka," said Vance. "Ivanka Trump wasn't deposed in this case."

But Vance believes Attorney General Letitia James has big plans for the banner day in court.

"It seems very likely that there is an important piece of evidence or perhaps more evidence," Vance said. "It is worth the risk of whatever unknowns she might come up with."
