Trump's lawyers steer well clear of repeating his bias rants in court: report

Donald Trump's lawyers have been scrambling to introduce evidence of alleged bias against the former president in his New York fraud case — but they haven't cited a single claim their client has been making on social media.

A spokesperson for New York's Office of Court Administration confirmed that Judge Arthur Engoron's wife never posted on social media about the former president, who had amplified posts by a right-wing influencer who had claimed the spouse had criticized Trump and called for his prosecution.

Despite Trump's howls of bias, his attorneys never touched it in court, the Messenger's court reported Adam Klasfeld said.

“Justice Engoron’s wife has sent no social media posts regarding the former president," said Al Baker, the court spokesperson. "They are not hers.”

Trump shared social media posts Thursday based on claims by conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, who posted screenshots from an X account she purported to belong to the judge's wife, who denied ever controlling an account on the site formerly known as Twitter.

A gag order against Trump had gone back into place earlier that day prohibiting Trump from commenting about court staff — but the judge's family was not included in that ban.
