Trump fumes after Jan. 6 committee unleashes a barrage of subpoenas

Former President Donald Trump is furious over the recent announcement that the House Select Committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol would be subpoenaing ten additional close allies to his administration.

The new subpoenas include the White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and his top aide Stephen Miller, but it also includes Trump's aide who managed the Oval Office and his personal assistant.

In a statement published by his spokesperson, Trump blamed the subpoenas on "politically ambitious hacks." The committee is led by an official who's been in Congress for nearly three decades. He then ranted that America's vote on Nov. 3, 2020 was the real "insurrection."

Finally, Trump said that the Jan. 6 commission was supposed to only be investigating the protest, which is incorrect according to the legislation establishing the select committee.
