Donald Trump seeks high court review of gag order after it was reinstated by appeals court

Donald Trump is seeking a New York Supreme Court review after an appeals court reinstated a gag order in his New York civil fraud trial.

On Thursday, a court of appeals issued a one-sentence ruling to reinstate New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron's gag order. Trump was banned from talking about court staff after inspiring harassment of Engoron's clerk.

In a filing on Monday, an attorney for Trump said the order was unfair.

"Without expedited review, Petitioners will continue to suffer irreparable injury daily, as they are silenced on matters implicating the appearance of bias and impropriety on the bench during a trial of immense stakes," Monday's filing said.

Trump requested that his appeal be directed to Justice David Friedman, who previously stayed the gag order temporarily.
