Manhattan prosecutors tipped off Trump may have violated gag order during LA rant

According to MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin, there is good reason for prosecutors in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office to go to Judge Juan Merchan and make the case that Donald Trump is in violation of his gag order.

Earlier in the week New York's highest court rejected Donald Trump's most recent appeal of the gag order in his Manhattan criminal trial where he was found guilty on 34 felony charges.

The court ruled that the former president is banned from publicly attacking attorneys serving in Bragg's office, court personnel and the jurors who found him guilty.

With that in mind, Rubin pointed out on X that Trump "arguably" violated the gag order at his Los Angeles press conference on Friday afternoon.

As she wrote, "Trump focused his ire on 'one person in particular' who he characterized as having been sent by the White House from DOJ to New York to get NY Attorney General Tish James's civil fraud case started, 'then go to the DA in Manhattan,' " before adding, "There is literally only one person he could have been talking about--but both the timing and context of his returning to New York after a stint at DOJ is not as Trump claims."

"Whether Trump's statements were made with the intent to 'materially interfere' with that lawyer's work on what remains in the New York criminal case and/or with the knowledge that such interference is likely to occur -- the standard governing the gag order -- is up to others," she added before suggesting, "But from where I sit, it's at least a close call and something for the Manhattan DA's office to think through."
