President Donald Trump turned heads Tuesday afternoon when he suggested the United States could take over the Gaza Strip and turn it from a "demolition site" into the "Riviera of the Middle East."
Speaking to reporters alongside Israel's far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump reiterated that Palestinians could be moved to Egypt or Jordan.
"The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip. And we will do a job with it, too. We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site. Level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out. Create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area. Do a real job," said Trump.
Trump said the U.S. will do "what's necessary" in Gaza, including taking over the piece of land.

"It'll be something the entire Middle East can be proud of," he said.
Trump said he sees a "long-term ownership" of the land, that will bring stability to the region.
"This was not a decision made lightly. Everybody I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land," he insisted.
Trump said Palestinians live in a "hellhole" and wants to give people a "chance to live in a beautiful community that's safe and secure."
