A pastor supporting former President Donald Trump squirmed on Monday after being shown a video that his preferred candidate promoted that suggested he was divinely chosen.
During an interview on CNN, host Poppy Harlow played a video that Trump promoted on his Truth Social website that flatly declared "God gave us Trump" to rule over America.
She then turned to her guest, Pastor Travis Decker, and asked him if he had any concerns about a video that suggested God had personally picked Trump to be His leader.
"He didn't create it," Decker replied. "I don't think that he thinks that. He posts lots of things, and I think he does it to troll people, honestly."

Decker then tried to make the case that Trump was a man of God.
"He has very clearly stated behind the scenes that he is the, uh, you know, that he has the fear of God," Decker explained. "You know, he's not there yet, as far as I'm concerned. I would love to see him... grow more of a conscience in a lot of areas, but I think he has a proven track record of being a good president and especially on abortion."
Tim Lubinus, the executive director of Iowa’s Baptist convention and a supporter of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, then chimed in to say he did see issues with idolatry among many Trump supporters.
"There are some that are way over the top, that almost anything he would do -- and of course, he said, anything he would, do people would support him," he said. "That's concerning to me, and it is getting close to the definition of idolatry."
