'Trump is hated by everyone in the White House' and burnt out staff are scrambling for the exit: report

According to a report in Vanity Fair, White House staffers working for President Donald Trump put on a happy face after his State of the Union address, but privately are miserable and looking to exit.

“Trump is hated by everyone inside the White House,” one former White House official confided.

According to the report, "His shambolic management style, paranoia, and pattern of blaming staff for problems of his own making have left senior White House officials burned out and resentful.

Interviews with 10 former White House officials paint a picture of dysfunction, finger pointing, and bullying that has some -- including Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney -- looking for a quick exit.

“It’s total misery. People feel trapped,” a former official said. “Trump always needs someone to blame."

The report states that the leak of President Trump's daily schedule -- which showed he spends 60 percent of his time luxuriating in "executive time" -- was a warning shot that staffers are extremely unhappy with the president.

"White House Communications Director Bill Shine has told friends he’s angry that Trump has singled him out for the bad press during the government shutdown," Vanity Fair reports. "Bill is like, ‘you’re the guy who steps on the message more than anyone,’ said a Republican who’s spoken with Shine recently. Economic adviser Larry Kudlow has told people he’s probably got six months left. 'Larry’s really tired of it all,' a source close to Kudlow said."

The report notes that one bone of contention is that Trump has increasingly turned the White House into a "family business" relying more and more on son-in-law Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

“This is a family affair, and if you’re not in the family, you’ve got problems,” a former official said, adding that Mulvaney was very unhappy with the couple keeping him from doing his job.

“Mick is not entirely thrilled with the family,” a friend of Mulvaney's admitted, adding that he wants to leave the White House for a cabinet post.
