'Fort Knox': Trump moans about 'heavily guarded' court he claims keeps MAGA from trial
April 26, 2024
Donald Trump exhorted his followers to come to the Manhattan courthouse where he's on trial — and expect to face resistance from law enforcement.
The former president is facing felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment intended to boost his election chances in 2016, and he has repeatedly called his supporters to protest outside the courthouse — and has falsely claimed that police would likely try to block them.
Those claims have been debunked by many reporters, who have revealed the court is open to the public and no roads are closed nearby.
"I’m at the heavily guarded Courthouse. Security is that of Fort Knox, all so that MAGA will not be able to attend this trial, presided over by a highly conflicted pawn of the Democrat Party," Trump posted Friday morning on Truth Social. "It is a sight to behold! Getting ready to do my Courthouse presser."

There have rarely been more than a handful of protesters outside the courthouse, where TV photographers and reporters far outnumber anyone else, and there has been little police presence around those demonstrations and no efforts to stop them.
Trump has been criticized for painting a highly misleading account of his trial, which has proceeded on schedule and with little courtroom drama outside of witness testimony. Though the judge has admonished the former president and his attorneys several times during the case but so far has imposed no sanctions.
