'More stupid stuff': Ted Lieu shoots down Marjorie Taylor Greene's plan to 'expunge' Trump's impeachment

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is using her latest term to focus on grievance-based policies like an impeachment effort for President Joe Biden. But her latest idea is to have former President Donald Trump's two impeachments expunged. There's no process for such a move, nor has anything ever been attempted in the past.

Her colleague, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), called the idea simply "stupid."

"There is no such thing known as an expungement of an impeachment in the United States Constitution," said Lieu, who was one of the impeachment managers. "This is totally a made-up process. It is nothing more than a glorified press release with a fake vote. And by the way, with the second impeachment, there was bipartisan support in the House and the Senate."

In fact, Lieu explained that 57 U.S. Senators voted to impeach Trump for Jan. 6. The Constitution requires a two-thirds majority to remove a president, but it was something supported by both sides.

"But you can't just erase that. It was televised. Otherwise, people saw it. And this is more stupid stuff from a radical Republican caucus," said Lieu.

Lieu also referenced a Washington Post report about Trump being told by the former Republican Arizona governor that he'd lost the 2020 election, whether he wanted to believe it or not.

"Today is Sunday. We learned again that Donald Trump lost Arizona," he explained. "And if you read the article on the Washington Post this weekend, it's very clear that the governor of Arizona told Donald Trump that he lost Arizona, that they investigated all these alleged false claims, and found there were not any. And we have multiple court cases in Arizona, all showing that the voters in Arizona voted for Joe Biden over Donald Trump. Trump simply lost. He is a loser. And he's trying to cheat his way into power. And again, we find that the system held, and it prevented cheaters like Donald Trump from claiming the presidency of the United States."
