Donald Trump's relentless attacks on special counsel Jack Smith — including wishing that he "rot in Hell" in a Christmas message — along with other courthouse personnel could finally push Judge Tanya Chutkan to the point where she may have no choice but to do what was thought to be unthinkable.
As the Daily Beast's Jose Pagliery is reporting, the former president is all but ignoring the gag order imposed on him by the D.C. judge overseeing his election subversion case, and one defense lawyer from Texas suggested Chutkan is poised to "blow everyone’s mind" and send the former president to jail if he keeps it up.
And, should it come to that, she would have the appeals court's blessing to proceed with having him locked up, the report stated.
Speaking with the Beast, Catherine Ross of George Washington University Law School, explained, "I think by every indication, Judge Chutkan is well prepared for this. She’s not putting up with this.”

Noting that Trump continues to act like a "petulant child," Pagliery added it "has kicked judges into high gear" and "jailing Trump for disobeying a gag order would be a controversial move, but it’s certainly not out of the question."
Attorney Paul Saputo said, "The judge in D.C. doesn’t seem like she is willing to tolerate a lot of nonsense. She seems like she is laying down the law. And I think there’s a real possibility that if he violates her order in a meaningful way, he could end up in jail."
And Pagliery reported she likely would have the full support of the D.C. Appellate Court based upon their previous ruling in favor of a gag order.
"On Dec. 8, her gag order was partially upheld by a three-judge D.C. appellate panel that voiced serious concerns about Trump’s ability to scare former Vice President Mike Pence from testifying against the man he once considered a friend. Their assessment of the danger shows that they recognize the perils of letting Trump run rampant," The Beast report states while noting the judges wrote, "Some of Mr. Trump’s speech poses a significant and imminent threat to the fair and orderly adjudication of the criminal proceeding against him."
