Trump 'infuriated' when officials tell him he can't break the law -- and it led to Kirstjen Nielson firing: NYT
In a New York Times report, it was revealed President Donald Trump frequently flew into a rage when he was told he couldn't do something because it was illegal.
In wake of Secretary Kirstjen Nielson's firing, stories surfaced of their heated exchanges.
"The president berated Ms. Nielsen regularly, calling her at home early in the mornings to demand that she take action to stop migrants from entering the country, including doing things that were clearly illegal, like blocking all migrants from seeking asylum," the Times wrote. "She repeatedly noted the limitations imposed on her department by federal laws, court settlements and international obligations.
"Those responses only infuriated Mr. Trump further. The president’s fury erupted in the spring of 2018 as Ms. Nielsen hesitated for weeks about whether to sign a memo ordering the routine separation of migrant children from their families so that the parents could be detained."
Interestingly, the news comes as former White House Counsel Don McGahn revealed in a GOP lunch that he was one of the president's punching bags.
"I spent the last couple of years getting yelled at," McGahn said according to Axios. "And you may soon read about some of the more spirited debates I had with the president."
According to CNN reports Sunday, Trump was becoming "increasingly unhinged" when it came to Nielsen.
This wasn't the first time either. Trump regularly berated Nielsen in front of cabinet officials.
