While Trump loyalists were accepting of Donald Trump's hiring of alt-right missionary Steve Bannon to Chief White House Council, Corey Lewandowski is too much.
According to a Politico report, Trump's loyalists are lining up to oppose Lewandowski being anywhere near the Oval Office. A dozen Trump allies and other influential Republicans warn that Lewandowski has a tendency to generate in-fighting and is overly aggressive. Lewandowski also didn't make any friends with the Trump family during his short time managing the campaign. That alone could sink his chances.
“Corey has a problem because he has made so many enemies,” a strategist on Trump’s presidential transition explained.
However, Lewandowski is still being considered for a post, sources say. The office could be anything from a deputy under incoming chief of staff Reince Priebus or a new chair for the Republican National Committee.
Neither Lewandowski nor the Trump campaign responded to comment. However, last week, Lewandowski indicated he had a good relationship with Priebus and influential Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Lewandowski resigned from his paid position on CNN on the heels of Trump's win. According to the report, he's indicated that he is interested in both jobs.
