'Wasn’t even close': Analyst predicts Trump's Iowa landslide marks end of GOP primary race

Trump's win may spell doom for the remaining contenders trying to become the GOP presidential nominee.

According to the Wall Street Journal's Catherine Lucky, with such an uncontested victory it might be time for former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to gracefully head for the exits.

She writes: "It wasn’t even close, and the win signaled this could be a very short GOP primary season if Trump continues to pile up delegates and any rivals' road to victory vanishes."

As of two hours after the start of the caucuses, Trump had earned 49.5% of the Iowa caucus votes, with 6% of the votes counted.

DeSantis, with 22.4%, and Haley with 20.6% were duking it out for second place.

The candidates will head east to earn votes from the New Hampshire primary next, where CNN reports Trump is expected to face more aggressive competition.
