‘Trump isn’t a vessel for God’s will’: Bill Maher destroys Evangelicals for absurd faith in president

HBO "Real Time" host Bill Maher went in-depth on Friday to explain how President Donald Trump is not, in fact, King Cyrus from the Bible.

"And finally, new rule, stop acting so surprised that Trump thinks he's God's gift to America, because that's what Evangelicals keep telling him he is," Maher noted.

Maher noted a speech by My Pillow founder Mike Lindell at the CPAC conference, which Maher described as "a virtual Woodstock of the mentally impaired."

“Donald Trump invited me to the meet him at Trump Tower in New York City,” Lindell said in his speech.. “I walked into his office with high hopes on August 15th, 2016. I walked out of that office after meeting with him and I knew God had chosen him for such a time as this.”

"Mike's pillows are made from foam, but his head is filled with feathers," Maher joked. "But Mike's belief there is not unique, a significant portion of our population believes that in 2016, God put Trump in office. And I was giving all the credit to [Vladimir] Putin."

Maher noted how Evangelicals are claiming Trump is like King Cyrus in the Bible.

"Why Cyrus? Because Evangelicals had to solve this little problem they have, which is that they want to support a Republican president, but this particular happens to be the least-Christian one ever," he noted.

"A man who loves flesh-peddling, coveting, cursing, cheating, bullying, bragging, sloth, adultery and ripping off charities," he continued. "And who lies more frequently than the rest of us pee."

"The type of man who would go into a confessional booth -- and never come out," he noted. "So how to square that circle? Just say Trump is like King Cyrus."
