Jack Smith notched immunity deals with 'at least two' fake Trump electors for testimony: CNN
June 23, 2023
CNN is reporting that special counsel Jack Smith has notched "at least two" immunity deals with people who served as fake electors for former President Donald Trump.
According to CNN's report, two fake Trump electors recently testified before a grand jury after they received guarantees of immunity against future criminal charges.
"Prosecutors have played hardball with some of the witnesses in recent weeks, refusing to grant extensions to grand jury subpoenas for testimony and demanding they comply before the end of this month," CNN's sources say. "In the situations where prosecutors have given witnesses immunity, the special counsel’s office arrived at the courthouse in Washington ready to compel their testimony after the witnesses indicated they would decline to answer questions under the Fifth Amendment."

The report goes on to note that at least six witnesses have testified before a federal grand jury in the last two weeks alone and that much of the testimony revolved around the fake electors plot that would replace the electors in states that President Joe Biden won with electors who would instead back Trump despite the fact that Biden had been certified as the winner in those states.
Additionally, writes CNN, "prosecutors have also asked multiple witnesses recently about Trump’s actions before, during and after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol."
