Trump will 'burn America to the ground to help himself': Chris Christie's new ad

Chris Christie can speak truth to Trump.

And his latest pitch to American voters? Who else has the guts to do it in public, because according to him everybody is doing it in the shadows.

"Some people say I should drop out of this race," the former New Jersey governor says during a 30-second ad set in front of a stark black background. "Really? I'm the only one saying Donald Trump is a liar."

It's the words of the presidential hopeful, in an ad buy debuting on CNN, that allegedly cost him seven figures to circulate on New Hampshire airwaves.

Christie is well behind the 45th president in the polls but is betting on himself and his spade-calling moxie to spawn a comeback in advance of the Jan. 23 primary.

A recent CBS News/YouGov poll found 10% of GOP voters in New Hampshire would opt for Christie, behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 11%., former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley at 29% and well short of nipping at Trump's commanding 44%.

Christie's pitch is bluntly simple: Vote for him because he's the only candidate with the ability to tell the truth about former President Donald Trump while everyone else cowers in private.

“He caused a riot on Capitol Hill. He’ll burn America to the ground to help himself," he says. "Every Republican leader says that in private. I’m the only one saying it in public.”

He then takes a dig at the Donald's decorum claiming Trump "pits Americans against each other" and that his Christmas message to "anyone who disagrees with him" is to "Rot in hell."

He then ends the straight talk with a very leading question: "What kind of a president do we want? A liar or someone who has the guts to tell the truth?"
