The Department of Homeland Security Saturday targeted the New York Times, purportedly for failing to list the immigration status of a man who was allegedly seen sexually abusing a corpse in public.
The headline in question is, "Police Arrest a Man They Say Abused a Corpse on the R Train." As the Times recently reported, "A Brooklyn man was arrested on Monday after the police said he violated a corpse on an R train in a Manhattan subway station earlier this month."
A Homeland Security official weighed in several days later, saying, "The New York Times refused to mention anywhere in its 400-word story on the monstrous rape of a corpse on the NYC subway that the depraved perpetrator is an ILLEGAL alien."

"Why not report the facts, New York Times?" Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary Dept. of Homeland Security, then asked.
It didn't take long for Homeland Security itself to chime in on social media, providing a revised headline with the words, "Fixed it." The new headline given by the federal government is, "Police Arrest Illegal Alien They Say Abused a Corpse on the R Train." Instead of "Brooklyn man" in the subheading, the DHS included a mock-up that said, "A Monster has been charged with first-degree rape..."
GOP political strategist Chris LaCivita, who helped Trump win the 2024 election, responded to the DHS revised headline with, "More of this …."
Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin picked up on the development, writing, "DHS goes after NYT for referring to illegal alien charged w/ raping a male human corpse on a subway in NYC as a 'Brooklyn man' with no mention of his legal status."
Trump's deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, responded to that report, writing, "Whether it’s 'Brooklyn Man' or 'Maryland Dad' the media will always lie to protect criminal aliens," in reference to a man who was mistakenly deported but hasn't been returned.
