A blindsided Donald Trump angrily swore and demanded White House staffers intercede to keep Elon Musk from being given a briefing on China from top-ranking Pentagon officials reports Axios.
Two weeks ago, the Wall Street Journal reported that the president was blindsided by the news that the billionaire was about to be welcomed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for a meeting on possible China war plans in March.
Now Axios is reporting that Trump killed the meeting himself and then was forced to do damage control after the story was leaked before the meeting which has since led to two aides to Hegseth being put on leave.

The report notes that it was not Hegseth who called off the detailed briefing, but instead Trump after a furious outburst.
"What the f--- is Elon doing there? Make sure he doesn't go," Trump reportedly demanded of his aides, with Axios reporting, "The planned Pentagon briefing, however, got him [Musk] cross with the boss at the Resolute Desk."
The report adds one insider admitted, "POTUS still very much loves Elon, but there are some red lines. Elon has a lot of business in China and he has good relations there, and this briefing just wasn't the right thing."
