President Donald Trump dropped a wild statement about peace Thursday evening that left observers scratching their heads.
Trump fielded questions about his polarizing "Board of Peace" initiative for Gaza as he returned to the United States after appearing at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The Gaza scheme comes with a hefty $1 billion price tag for permanent membership.
When pressed about the sky-high fee, Trump brushed aside concerns, claiming, "Some of the countries have already put up much more than that. And that's a lot of money, but it's nothing compared to the value of peace."
That's when the president declared that peace is "destructive for everyone."
"Peace is so destructive for everyone. Even countries that aren't involved. I mean, it's so destructive for everyone when you have wars," he told reporters aboard Air Force One.
The contradictory remarks raised eyebrows among political observers.
