President Donald Trump suggested former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden were to blame for a deadly midair collision in Washington, D.C.
At a Thursday press conference to address the crash, Trump began by reading articles about how previous administrations had focused on "diversity" at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
"I changed the Obama standards from very mediocre, at best, to extraordinary," Trump said. "And then when I left office and Biden took over, he changed them back to lower than ever before."
"Obama, Biden, and the Democrats put policy first, and they put politics at a level that nobody's ever seen because this was the lowest level," he added.
Trump read from one unnamed publication: "The FAA's diversity push includes focus on hiring people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities."
"The FAA, which is [formerly] overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a real winner," he quipped. "That guy is a real winner. Do you know how badly everything has run since he's run the Department of Transportation? He's a disaster."
"Another story," he continued, "determined that the workforce was too white, that they had concerted efforts to get the administration to change that and to change it immediately."

"This was in the Obama administration just prior to my getting there."
For five minutes, Trump ranted about diversity programs before taking a moment of silence for the victims.
"And I just want to say God bless everyone in this room."
