Trump is already 'planning for a potential conviction' with latest moves: legal expert

Former President Donald Trump already understands the legal threat posed by the criminal hush money trial set to begin in Manhattan next week, said former January 6 investigator Temidayo Aganga-Williams on CNN Friday evening.
The trial centers on the allegation that the former president effectively interfered in the 2016 election by using a secret hush payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels to conceal their former affair from voters. Trump's lawyers are reportedly resigned to the fact that they cannot delay the trial anymore and are bracing for what might happen when Trump comes face to face with the witnesses in the courtroom — although they are currently trying to make last-minute changes to the jury questionnaire.
"So what do you think the former president's trying to basically change the jury selection process at this point?" asked anchor Anderson Cooper.

"What he's trying to do is find a basis on appeal to say that he's not getting a fair jury," said Aganga-Williams.
"He's trying to get, gather data?" Cooper followed up.
"He's planning for a potential conviction here, because what he's trying to say is that, I want to understand all the different bases by which these jurors could perhaps not be fair, to be enough, be impartial. And I want to parse it out. So if I want to highlight specific things to the appellate court, I'm able to have that information from the trial court to send up. He's preparing, like a good lawyer should — his legal team here, prepared with potential things if he's either convicted and what the challenge is process, or if you want to seek some kind of integral interlocutory appeal now, meaning he wants to challenge to go up right down the middle, then he has the opportunity to do so."
