Trump praises 'our ancestors' for crushing fascism at Florida rally

Former President Donald Trump on Saturday praised Americans who fought against Nazi Germany and other fascist powers during World War II.

"Our ancestors crushed, just absolutely crushed fascism," Trump said during his rally in Sarasota, Florida.

Many social media users mocked Trump's comment, wondering if "he likes ANTIFA now?"

Trump had threated to designate the anti-fascist movement known as antifa as a terrorist organization. He frequently railed against antifa activists, claiming they're to blame for violence at protests over police killings.

"Short for 'anti-fascists,' antifa is not a single organization but rather an umbrella term for far-left-leaning militant groups that confront or resist neo-Nazis and white supremacists at demonstrations," the Associated Press explained.
