Trump says ‘purposefully’ hasn’t read Project 2025 — but everybody would like parts of it

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump insisted that he "purposefully" hasn't read a conservative plan to reshape the country because he wants to be able to distance himself from it in media interviews.

While speaking to influencer Lex Fridman this week, Trump was asked about Project 2025, which was authored by more than 100 former staffers as a blueprint for his next administration.

"I know nothing about it, and they know that, too. Democrats know that, and I purposely haven't read it because I want to say to you I don't, I have no idea what it's all about," Trump replied.

"It's easier than saying I read it and you know, all of the things. No, I purposely haven't read it, and I've heard about it."

Despite claiming to "know nothing" about Project 2025, Trump said the plan included policies that "everybody would like."

"I've heard about things that are in there that I don't like, and there's some things in there that everybody would like, but there are things that I don't like at all," he explained. "And I think it's unfortunate that they put it out."

"But it doesn't mean anything because [it] has nothing to do with me, Project 2025 has, it has absolutely nothing to do with me."
