Trump sends Sarah Sanders out to denounce BBC cameraman beating: ‘President Trump condemns all acts of violence’

A BBC cameraman was attacked in El Paso, Texas Monday night, but the president is absolving himself of any responsibility.

“President Trump condemns all acts of violence against any individual or group of people - including members of the press. We ask that anyone attending an event do so in a peaceful and respectful manner," Sanders said in a release Tuesday.

A man with a Make America Great Again hat "shoved and swore at the BBC's Ron Skeans and other news crews before being pulled away" by police, the BBC reported.

Skeans explained that a "very hard shove" came out of nowhere. "I didn't know what was going on."

Trump told his Texas audience that the press was dishonest liars. In the past, he's called them the "enemy of the people."

"I heard the same thing from the fake news," Trump said about crime statistics for the city. "They said, 'Oh, crime actually stayed the same.' It didn’t stay the same. It went way down. And look at what they did to their past crimes, and look at how they recorded those past crimes. It went way, way down."

"These people — you know, you’d think they’d want to get to the bottom of a problem, and solve a problem, not try and pull the wool over everybody’s eyes," he continued. "So for those few people that are out there on television saying, “Oh, it didn’t make too much of a difference” — it made a tremendous— people from El Paso, am I right? It’s fake news. I’m telling ya, it’s just fake news. And you know what? You wouldn’t even have to know, you can say that automatically without even knowing. It’s obvious, it’s common sense."
