'Think again': Phil Mudd warns that Democrats' probe into Trump will last way beyond 2020

Counterterrorism analyst Phil Mudd warned that House Democrats investigations into President Donald Trump will last way beyond 2020 during a Monday interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

The House Judiciary Committee demanded a sweeping amount of documents involving Trump and sent 81 letters to "individuals, companies and government entities" in a  new wide-ranging investigation into the president.

"It will be an enormous amount of work assuming they comply and release all of this information," Blitzer said.

"What we have heard today is just the tip of the iceberg," Mudd said. "They are talking about interviewing these individuals. Mueller has been at his investigation which is relatively narrow compared to what the Congress wants to do for two years."

"That is millions of records potentially not just over two or three years but going back obviously many years to when the Trump business was involved in things like selling condos in New York City. So if you think this is interviews with 81 people or entities that will last a few months, I say think again. It is at least mid-2020. I'm not that political but I think we are in a political campaign."

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said the probe is crucial.

“This is a critical time for our nation,” Nadler wrote. “President Trump and his administration face wide-ranging allegations of misconduct that strike at the heart of our constitutional order.”
