Trump spokesman hypocritically whines that people who engage in name-calling don't belong in Washington

On Thursday night, newly elected Michigan congresswoman Rashida Tlaib held a rally where she pledged to impeach President Donald Trump.

"People love you and you win. And when your son looks at you and says, 'Momma, look you won. Bullies don't win.' And I said, 'Baby, they don't, because we’re gonna impeach the mother***er.'”

Tlaib's remarks stirred controversy. On Fox News Friday, anchor Sandra Smith decried the incivility of Tlaib's comments.

"We are in an era of divided government now and this new congresswoman from Michigan, a camera was rolling on her when she was addressing the crowd and she used profanity, she cursed out the president and called for his impeachment," Smith said to Hogan Gidley, White House Deputy Press Secretary.

"I just wonder what this says about decorum in this new era of divided government and the new Congress?"

Gidley suggested that name-calling should not be tolerated in Washington.

"If they want to come to Washington to engage in this type of nasty, ridiculous outrageous rhetoric instead of focusing on the issue at hand, we have a crisis on our border, people in this country are dying and those deaths are 100% preventable and they are going to have a very difficult time in this town and with their constituencies because this type of rhetoric while it may ratchet up a few folks on their side, it is not going to do anything to fix the real problems we face in this country," said Gidley.

Neither the deputy press secretary nor the Fox News anchor addressed President Donald Trump's history of insults and name-calling, directed at both rivals and allies.
