Trump tells VFW 'we don't apologize for America anymore' eight days after blaming America for Russian attacks

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that his administration doesn't "apologize for America anymore" even though he has blamed the United States for Russia's attack on American elections.

At a Veterans of Foreign Wars rally in Kansas City, Trump touted actions taken during his presidency.

"For more than a century, the VFW has represented American heroes who promoted American values, and they did so with honor," Trump said at the start of his remarks. "You are the universal symbol of the patriotic pride that beats loudly in every single American heart."

"We don't apologize for America anymore," the president added. "We stand up for America. We stand up for the patriots who defend America."

As CNN's Jake Tapper noted, Trump's remarks came only eight days after he blamed the U.S. for poor Russia relations.

At recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Trump also bashed the U.S., claiming that "we're all to blame" for Russian interference in the 2016 election.
