Trump treats White House staffers who don't parrot his lies as 'traitors': Trump biographer

In a deep dive into the culture of bald-faced lying that President Donald Trump brought with him to the White House, a Trump biographer claims that aides feel compelled to parrot his lies lest he consider them "traitors," reports the New York Times.

Addressing what compelled Michael Cohen to lie for the president to investigators which could now lead to his incarceration, biographer Gwenda Blair explained that type of loyalty is what Trump expects from his people.

With the Times reporting that the White House is home to, "....a group of people surrounding Mr. Trump — including some White House and cabinet officials — who contribute to a culture of bending, if not outright breaking, the truth, and whose leading exemplar is Mr. Trump himself," Blair revealed why it continues to fester despite threats from special counsel Robert Mueller.

“Even if it’s a lie, even if they know it’s a lie, and even if he said the opposite the day before,” Trump's staffers will repeat whatever he says without variance, stated Blair.

She elaborated they must be "loyal to what he is saying right now," or he sees them as "a traitor," Blair added.
